TOEFL Podcast5
Podcast5 "Registering for Classes"
- It's such a hassle registering for these classes.
It's such a hassle means it's very difficult.
- on top of everything
on top of everything = in addition to all the other things
(e.g) I need to go to the store I need to get my car fixed and top of everything, I have to pay my tuition today.
- It beats standing in line.
It beats something means it's better than.
- "It beats standing in line. = Registering on the Internet is better than standing in line."
- It's not a big deal.
It's not a big deal. = It' not difficult.
- She ends up blowing them off.
end up => I'm going to eventually do something.
blow off => not to pay attention or to ignore
(e.g) He ended up telling his wife everything.
(e.g) I'm going to blow off my history class.
